JOHN V. RAGGIO, CFA

PRINCIPAL & portfolio manager

Joined Cannell & Spears in 2008.

John is a Principal and leads the various fixed-income strategies. With more than 15 years of experience, he works closely with clients to help to build portfolios to reach their goals. John has helped clients to utilize fixed income in two major ways: (1) as part of an overall allocation of their total wealth and (2) as a tool to address a need.

As part of a client allocation, John manages portfolios that include municipal bonds to provide tax-exempt income and corporate bonds to help stabilize overall investments, as well as a total-return strategy that seeks opportunities within the inefficiencies of the markets. An example of using fixed income as a tool would be to offset future spending needs, such as college tuition, required minimum distributions or interest payments from loans. Additionally, John has helped clients, including endowments and corporations, with cash-management strategies to enhance the value of their liquid assets beyond what can be earned by bank deposits.

Prior to joining the Firm, John was a portfolio associate at BNY Mellon starting in 2006. John received a BA from the University of Richmond in 2006 and a Certificate in Investment Banking from New York University in 2008. He became a CFA charterholder in 2013. Outside of work, John is involved in philanthropy though Northwell Health, where he sits on the board of health care systems Western region and chairs the Lenox Hill Hospitals New Leadership Council.
